June 14

We left Kohaihai this morning to head towards Motueka. I was quite sad to leave the West Coast, as I had found it to be beautiful and a different type of landscape. It was also much less populated which added to the vibe.

Our day was mostly spent driving. We did make a stop at Hanlon Lake to do a little hike. The lake was beautiful. It was another one of the reflecting lakes and it may have been the best one yet. That, coupled with the perfect weather, made the visit a great one.

It took until early evening before we arrived in Mot. We found a campsite nearby in Tasman, right on Kina Beach. We took our first opportunity in weeks to do a bit of fishing (unsuccessfully). The spot seems nice and we may end up spending another night here, after we check out Abel Tasman tomorrow.
