September 24

My past couple days have been relatively laid back. Today I had some additional job training in the evening, so I spent a couple hours running this morning and then the afternoon hanging out with the other woofers. I was told about a private road that allows walking access and is a great running path. (The person who suggested it probably didn’t expect that I would hop a fence to go even further.) So I ran over four miles along this ocean path. The views of the water were amazing. On the way there I was shocked at what great time I was making. It wasn’t until my return trip that I realized the wind has been pretty significantly pushing me along. Needless to say I was much slower on the way home. (At one point I looked up to see a seagull flying in the wind, but making no progress. I thought that he probably was looking at me and thinking the same thing.) I also saw my first New Zealand sheep during this run!

In the afternoon we decided that we needed to do an activity. This is how Lindsay and Raphael became amateur hair stylists. The conversation went a little something like this: “Hey, my hair is getting kind of long. Do you want to cut it?” “Are you serious? You probably shouldn’t trust me.” “Okay, let’s do it anyways.”

I can’t see the back, but given the lack of horrified expressions, I’m assuming they did a fairly good job. We left most of the top intact to cover any minor errors.

Tomorrow, my Welly friends are coming out in the afternoon to visit my new digs!
